The Story of Wanderlustry

Pia is a Virgo who is born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She currently lives in New York City, where she day dreams of tropical islands every day. She is a certified Rescue Diver and a self-proclaimed world traveler.

Angkor Wat – Siem Reap, Cambodia

Pia’s mother and her friends backpacked in a lot of beautiful places in the Philippines, and every summer since she was 7 years old, she would join the group of adults on their adventures- from climbing down stalagmites in pitch darkness to walking for 12 hours straight on a completely unpaved dirt road. You would expect someone as young as her to complain, whine and demand for comfort but that was not her case. In fact, she loved every bit of it! There was a time when her mother’s friends had to tell her to not say a word for at least an hour because while they were dying from exhaustion, she would not stop singing Kumbaya My Lord and asking them questions only a little girl would ask like “Do you think there are lions here, and if there were, would they eat us alive?

Where there’s passion comes inspiration. So what exactly fuels this girl’s longing to wander? Does she really want to live every day of her life doing the exact same thing over and over again? There’s got to be more to living than just waking up to do the same routine for the rest of her life. So here comes her passion of wanting to experience anything out of the ordinary. Of wanting to understand different cultures. Of wanting to meet new people, make friends and to touch their lives even for just a few moments. Of wanting to feel goosebumps when being in places with rich histories, or when being in a place so magnificent and grand that it makes her feel insignificant. Pia believes that the world is a beautiful organism, and it would be a shame not to see all of it. Yes, we all have our duties and responsibilities but she often wonders to herself, is that exactly what we’re here for?

“…You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.”
